Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

We couldn’t operate without the dedication and hard work put in by our amazing team of volunteers. Please see below more information about volunteering opportunities available at Birmingham Central Foodbank. If you are interested in volunteering please get in touch.

Distribution Shifts:

(Please note as of 01/03/24 we are at capacity for distribution shift volunteers)

Our distributions shifts are on a Tuesday and a Friday during the day. Volunteering at one of these shifts involves working with the team to serve clients, make up food parcels, and offer signposting and other support to people.

Stock Shifts:

Our stock shifts are generally on a Thursday morning. Volunteering at one of these shifts involves sorting and dating donated items, unloading deliveries of food, and restocking shelves.

Driving:

Our driving volunteers collect food donations from supermarkets and other food suppliers, and bring them to the Foodbank. This role requires a vehicle and a driving license.

Other Roles:

We are also looking for people with to assist our Foodbank with some behind the scenes tasks. These roles can often be completed remotely and in evenings/weekends, but require more previous experience than our other volunteer opportunities. We are currently recruiting for these positions:

  • Social Media Volunteer
  • Graphic Design Volunteer
  • Fundraising Volunteer
  • Supermarket Liaison Volunteer
