Stock Shift Supervisor

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented person to oversee our Thursday morning stock shifts. In this role, you will support both new and existing volunteers, helping them feel welcome, and ensuring our stock system runs smoothly. You’ll develop a strong understanding of our processes, guiding the team to accurately weigh, sort, and pack away items.

Commitment

In person at Birmingham City Church, an average of 3 Thursdays per month, from 8:45am to 10:45am.

Social Media Team Member

We are looking for a creative and community-minded volunteer to help grow our social media presence. In this role, you will help us tell the story of the foodbank by sharing our impact, celebrating our amazing volunteers and partners, and encouraging the wider community to get involved. You’ll be responsible for planning and scheduling content, capturing photos and videos during shifts, and designing simple, engaging digital assets.

Commitment:

4 to 6 hours per week. This role can be done mostly from home, however to capture content and connect with the team, we ask that you join us in person at Birmingham City Church for at least one distribution shift per month.

Key Skills:

  • Creativity & Storytelling: A passion for creating engaging content that highlights our mission
  • Platform Savvy: Confident using Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Basic Design Skills: Experience (or an interest) in using simple design tools like Canva
  • Sensitivity & Discretion: Sound judgment regarding tone, branding guidelines and protecting people’s privacy

 

Tesco Springhill Supermarket Liaison

This role involves building and maintaining a strong relationship with our local Tesco Springhill Superstore. As the friendly face of our Foodbank, you will visit the store most weeks to collect items from our donation point and liaise with the Tesco team. You will also periodically update our collection posters and promotional materials in-store to keep shoppers engaged.

Commitment:

1 to 2 hours per week. You can choose when to visit the store, provided it falls within Monday to Thursday, 9:00am – 4:00pm. Access to your own vehicle is required for this role to transport donations.

Key Skills:

  • Relationship Building: A warm, confident manner and the ability to build a great rapport with store staff
  • Consistency & Reliability: Commitment to regular drop-ins so the store team knows they can rely on us
  • Attention to Detail: Keeping an eye on our in-store posters and any other marketing materials

 

Referrals Administrator & Trainer

We’re looking for someone to support us behind the scenes with vital administrative tasks relating to our Foodbank referrals process. You will be a key point of contact for our referral partners- responding to emails, registering new referrers, and scheduling upcoming training sessions. As you grow into the position, you’ll also help lead these training sessions to ensure our referrers are fully equipped to carry out their role.

Commitment:

4 to 6 hours per week initially. This role can be done remotely from home, or in person at Birmingham City Church.

Key Skills:

  • Computer Literacy: Comfortable using computers, particularly Gmail, Google Forms, Excel, and Microsoft Teams
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the confidence to co-lead training sessions
  • Relational Skills: A warm, professional manner when interacting with our referral partners
