Over 250 food parcels packed and over 400 children fed!

1st September 2015

During summer 2015 Birmingham Central Foodbank worked in partnership with the Ladywood Project and Business in the Community (BITC) to ease the burden of the long summer school holidays by providing food hampers to 100 Ladywood families who are struggling to make ends meet.

Each family was given two food hampers each over the summer school holiday period to help put meals on the table and stop children going hungry. Over 250 food parcels were packed for grateful families who came to the Ladywood Community Centre in central Birmingham to pick up them up.

Basic food items

Parcels were packed with non-perishable basic food items including cereal, rice, pasta, tinned meat, fish, milk, tinned veg and children’s treats to help ease the burden for struggling families over the long summer school holiday.

Generous donations

Over two tons of food came flooding in for the project from local businesses including: Wragge & Co, Service Birmingham, Fareshare, The Wesylan, Lloyds TSB, Irwin and Mitchell, Barclays, Birmingham Rotary Club, Big Lottery Fund, Royal Orthopedic Hospital, Crawfords, East End Foods, Fleetmine property and Aston University, BT, Wilkes Partnership solicitors, PWC, Fleetmine property, Santillo Consulting, East End foods and Rotaract.

Also a big thank you to staff from BHSF, Irwin & Mitchell, Wilkes partnership solicitors and Rotaract for volunteering over the two days to hand out the food parcels.

A BIG, BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make this happen!!!
